Mixed Media materials can include almost anything. In most of mine, I have used a watercolor background,
then applied colored pencil over that. Some backgrounds were painted using soft pastels.
The actual prints may vary slightly in color from those on this web site.
"Looking Through the Peep Hole" Original size: 11 x 14"
My daughter took the original photo, inspired this portrait.
The young man agreed to pose for her, and she provided the costume and props.
I used colored pencils over a watercolor layer.
It won an Award of Merit in a Judged and Juried Show in The Villages, FL. The original is in a private collection.

"Nature's Beauty" Original size 11 x 14"
This colored pencil painting of a Verbascum was completed in 2009 to complement the new décor of my kitchen.
It was my first attempt using oil based colored pencils.
The background was done with a watercolor wash, over which I applied soft pastels.
The original is in a private collection.

My husband and I have always loved roses, and this painting is a particular favorite of mine.

"Glass Wing Butterfly" Original size 11 x 14"
As an artist, I'm always testing my limits and trying different techniques.
For this one, I used a poured watercolor background with colored pencil.
I tried to capture the transparency of the butterfly’s wings.
This took an Honorable Mention prize at a Villages Art League contest. The original is in a private collection.

Having lived most of my life in NJ, NY, & MD, I missed the colorful fall leaves after moving to Florida.
This was an attempt to recapture the colors of fall. I started this painting with a watercolor under painting,
